Kolkata Knight Riders (145/4) beat Rajasthan Royals (142/10) by 6 wickets
Kolkata won the toss and chose to bowl at Eden Gardens. Visiting Rajasthan started well as Jos Buttler led the charge. The Englishman maintained his strong form in the competition and hit 39 for 22 before falling victim to Kuldeep Yadav.
Sky Sports Cricket showed how close he came to making IPL history:
Yadav was the star man for Kolkata as he took four for 20 and was named man of the match, per ESPNcricinfo:
The introduction of Sunil Narine also helped slow Rajasthan's run rate as they collapsed and handed their opponents a chase of 143.
Narine started strongly and hit 16 off the first three deliveries before breaking his bat with his next shot. His explosive showing did not last long as he managed 21 off seven balls before being dispatched by Ben Stokes.
It was a strong foundation on which to start, and Chris Lynn's 45 from 42 helped Kolkata on their way to victory.
Captain Dinesh Karthik won the match with a six as he finished on an unbeaten 41 in an emphatic victory for the hosts.
Kolkata's final fixture is against table-topping Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, while Rajasthan try to hold off a Royal Challengers Bangalore side that needs to beat SRH on Thursday to keep their top-four hopes alive.
