Neymar 'Bored' by PSG Exit Talk Amid Real Madrid, Manchester United Rumours

Matt JonesMay 14, 2018

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has said he is "a bit bored" by speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Despite only signing for the Ligue 1 side last summer from Barcelona in a world-record deal, the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United have been tipped as possible suitors for the Brazilian.

When he was asked about the speculation on Sunday at the National Union of Professional Football Players awards, Neymar dismissed the rumours.

"Real Madrid or Manchester United? Everyone knows what I have come to do at PSG," he said, per Marca. "People know the objectives I have, and my goal now is the World Cup. It's not time to talk about transfers, I'm a bit bored with it now."

As noted by Marca, Los Blancos have been consistently linked with a summer pursuit of Neymar. John Richardson of the Sunday Mirror reported the Red Devils want to sign the forward, too, and they would be ready to pay more than £200 million to get a deal completed.

Neymar picked up the Player of the Year award at the ceremony and was presented with the award by his legendary compatriot, Ronaldo:

Despite being out of action since February, it's clear the forward has many admirers in French football.

In his debut season for the Parisian giants Neymar grabbed 28 goals and 16 assists from 30 appearances. PSG wrapped up the Ligue 1 title with ease, as well as the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue.

These numbers from Squawka Football provided more insight into Neymar's impact on French football:

The big disappointment for the team this term was a last-16 exit in the Champions League against Real Madrid. Neymar picked up his injury between the two legs.

PSG's pursuit of the Brazilian last summer would have been with that title in mind. Neymar has previously performed on the biggest stage, and the Paris giants would have lamented not having their talisman available for the second leg against Madrid, when they had a 3-1 deficit to overturn.

Neymar has shone when on the field for PSG.

The club would be loath to let Neymar go after one season with that ultimate ambition unfulfilled, even if there is interest from such illustrious clubs. As relayed by ESPN FC, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is confident of keeping him around:

If PSG don't want to sell Neymar they have the financial might to resist any approaches. So if a transfer is to happen this summer, the striker may have to agitate for it.

Madrid and United would both be appealing destinations for the player. But taking Neymar's words at face value, it appears as though he has more to accomplish in the French capital yet.
