Gabi Garcia Chokes out Opponent in MMA Return at Road FC 47

Women's heavyweight competitor Gabi Garcia is quickly becoming one of the lead attractions of the Asian MMA scene. That was on full display on Saturday, when she fought in one of the featured bouts at Road FC 47 in Beijing. 

Facing Russian striker Veronika Futina, Garcia improved to 5-0 (1) in her MMA career with a rear-naked choke. Check out the video above.

This is a much-needed rebound for the Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace, who was last seen in December. Set to face 53-year-old Shinobu Kandori, she checked in 28 pounds overweight for the bout, which was ultimately cancelled.

This win over Futina helps Garcia in rebuilding bridges with fans overseas, while also helping to bolster her in-ring credibility against a comparatively solid opponent.
