With their heavy hitters out, Punjab couldn't do enough to claw back the runs they needed.
Delhi Daredevils found inspiration from 17-year-old all-rounder Abhishek Sharma. The teenager amassed 46 runs off just 19 balls to complement Rishabh Pant's 61, with Cricbuzz breaking down his eye-catching innings:
This tally was a key factor in the Daredevils' 181.
There was more history in Bangalore's innings, after another 17-year-old, Sandeep Lamichhane, got Parthiv Patel lbw for his maiden wicket in the IPL.
The competition's official Twitter feed outlined the significance of the wicket:
There was still time for Kohli to put his fourth half-century of the season on the board as the Royal Challengers closed in on 100 with seven overs left. Bharath Seervi of ESPNcricinfo detailed Kohli's recent scoring run in Delhi:
Kohli was aided by AB de Villiers, who hit 10 balls to the boundary, including six sixes. The South African soon completed his half century before finishing on 72 to leave Delhi rooted to the bottom of the table and keep Bangalore's faint playoff hopes alive.
