Kosta Koufos Reportedly to Exercise Player Option on Contract to Return to Kings
Kosta Koufos will not be testing free agency.
According to ESPN.com's Chris Haynes, Koufos plans to exercise his $8.7 million player option for the 2018-19 season and return to the Sacramento Kings.
Koufos, 29, has spent the last three years with the Kings after inking a four-year, $33 million deal with the club prior to the 2015-16 season.
Since then, he's played a rather modest role in Sacramento's frontcourt rotation.
Over the past three years, Koufos has averaged 6.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks—numbers that were largely in line with his output last season when he logged 19.6 minutes per game.
The Kings were also outscored by 8.3 points per 100 possessions over Koufos' 1,391 minutes on the floor during the 2017-18 campaign, according to NBA.com's lineup data.
He'll now return to a frontcourt that includes Zach Randolph, Willie Cauley-Stein, Skal Labissiere and Harry Giles.
