Bob Baffert Compares Kentucky Derby-Winning Horse Justify to LeBron James

Tyler ConwayMay 7, 2018

We already have King James. But according to trainer Bob Baffert, we soon might have to recognize Justify as King Neighs.

Baffert compared Kentucky Derby winner Justify to the four-time NBA MVP in an interview with TMZ Sports

"Oh, he looks like LeBron," Baffert said. "Big, powerful, athletic face. Very rare. Very rare. He's a beast."

Justify overcame a sloppy track and record-setting rain to win the Derby by 2 1/2 lengths Saturday. If we're going to keep the comparison going, it's kind of like James continuing to win basketball games despite a supporting cast worthy of a Saturday Night Live spoof.

Baffert said Justify is "up there" with 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, a horse also trained by Baffert.

Since Baffert decided to use LeBron as the point of comparison, assuredly it won't be long before old-head horse racing fans hit Justify's mentions with the horse racing version of "he's no MJ or Kobe."
