Kevin Harvick Picks Up 4th Win of the Season at Rainy NASCAR at Dover 2018

Kevin Harvick has done it again.

For the fourth time this season, he crossed the start-finish line in first place, taking Sunday's AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway. Harvick led 201 of the race's 400 rain-soaked laps and defeated second-place Clint Bowyer by more than seven seconds.

Daniel Suarez, Martin Truex Jr. and Kurt Busch rounded out the top five. Harvick won all three of the race's stages in a dominant performance.

"I want to thank everybody at Stewart-Haas Racing, Roush Yates engines, everybody at Ford for just continuing to put the effort they put into these cars," Harvick said, per USA Today's Mike Hembree. "Three cars in the top five says a lot about where we are as a company, but it's fun racing your teammate. That says a lot about our company and one of your good friends as well."

The win moves Harvick back into the first-place position in the NASCAR points standings, overtaking Kyle Busch. Harvick and Busch are the only drivers on the top circuit with multiple wins in 2018; Busch has three. Harvick now leads all drivers with eight top-five finishes.

Busch finished in 35th place Sunday after a broken driveshaft sent him into the wall at Lap 272.

"It just kept getting worse and worse the more the day was going, especially after restarts it was really, really bad," Busch said. "I was just trying to bide it out, see if we'd make it to the end. At first, I thought that it was an engine problem, but that wasn't the case."

The last two races have been a struggle for Busch, who had reeled off a string of seven straight top-three finishes—including three straight wins—earlier this season. Busch was the only contender who did not complete the race.

Rain forced a red flag at Lap 320 that took a little more than a half-hour. At the time of the delay, Bowyer had built a four-second lead over Harvick. It didn't take long for Harvick to retake the lead after the race resumed, and it was all she wrote once he did.

Brad Keselowski was the race's other dominant force, leading 108 laps. However, he wound up finishing in sixth place after slowing up in the final stage.
