As the New York Jets' quarterback room has undergone a massive overhaul this offseason, Christian Hackenberg will reportedly make a significant change of his own.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the 2016 second-round pick will "start from scratch" to fix his throwing motion:

For the time being, Hackenberg will have a chance to prove he belongs on the roster. Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz reported last month that the team was unlikely to keep either Hackenberg or 2015 fourth-rounder Bryce Petty in 2018.

Not only did New York re-sign veteran journeyman Josh McCown this offseason, but it also added Teddy Bridgewater via free agency and traded up to the No. 3 overall pick to draft former USC star Sam Darnold. As a result of the additions, the team parted ways with Petty on Thursday.

Despite being taken with the No. 51 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the former Penn State standout has not seen the field in two years in the pros. The 6'4", 228-pound passer has yet to show coaches during practices or the preseason that he is capable of being a starting NFL quarterback.

It remains to be seen if Hackenberg will stay with the Jets. The team has plenty of options, whether it be of the veteran or rookie variety. The 23-year-old is taking it upon himself to prove to teams around the league—not just New York—that he's willing to work on his flaws and put himself in a position to earn snaps.
