Kawhi Leonard Offered Pizza, Beer for Life by Local Brewery to Stay with Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have found an ally in their quest to keep Kawhi Leonard with the team next season.
At the end of last month, Freetail Brewing Co., which is based in San Antonio, offered the two-time All-Star and 2014 NBA Finals MVP free pizza and beer for life if he remains with the Spurs:
Freetail founder Scott Metzger told W. Scott Bailey of the San Antonio Business Journal the company wants Leonard to know how much he's respected and appreciated by Spurs fans.
"We felt that it was time for everyone to take a deep breath and chill out a bit," he said. "While he might not take us up on the offer, we just want Kawhi to know we really love our team and that we understand what he and his teammates mean to the continued success of the Spurs."
Leonard appeared in just nine games this season because of a quad injury. San Antonio was eliminated from the playoffs in the first round, losing in five games to the Golden State Warriors.
Last season, Leonard finished third in NBA MVP voting after averaging a career-high 25.5 points and 3.5 assists per contest.
