Donovan Mitchell Reacts to Celtics Crowd Chanting 'Not a Rookie' to Ben Simmons
The Rookie of the Year battle between Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell took another turn Monday thanks to the Boston Celtics fans at TD Garden.
As can be seen below, the Celtics fans chanted "not a rookie" at Simmons during Game 1 of their team's second-round playoff series, which drew a response from Mitchell:
This comes after the two had a back-and-forth during the regular season when Mitchell wore an Adidas hoodie defining rookie as "an athlete playing his or her first season as a member of a professional sports team."
Simmons was part of the 2016 draft and not the 2017 one, but he missed what would have been his first season in the NBA because of a fractured foot.
The 76ers guard responded to Mitchell's hoodie by saying "If his argument is I'm not a rookie, if that's the only argument he has, I'm in pretty good shape, then," per Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.
