MMA Fight Nixed After Devastating, Illegal Double Stomp to the Gut

Steven RondinaApr 28, 2018

Rules in MMA can sometimes be a tricky affair, something fans were reminded of just last weekend at UFC Fight Night Atlantic City. For the most part, though, things are a pretty straightforward list of "don't do this" and "don't do that."

One of the "thats" included in the rules are stomps on downed opponents, something Brian Hall learned on Saturday night.

Facing Jeremy Rogers at V3 Fights 68 in Robinsonville, Mississippi, Hall stood up out of full mount position, jumped and delivered a hard double stomp right to the abdomen. The shot sucked the wind right out of Rogers, but the flagrant foul drew a quick stoppage, resulting in a no-contest.

Why did Hall jump up out of the most dangerous offensive position in MMA in order to deliver a blatantly illegal strike (two illegal strikes, technically)? Nobody knows...

Maybe he's just a Finn Balor fan?
