Joey Bosa's Brother Nick Reportedly Favorite to Go No. 1 in 2019 NFL Draft

Adam WellsApr 28, 2018

With the 2018 NFL draft just wrapped up, an early look ahead to next year's class could see Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa going No. 1 overall.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, two NFL personnel men predicted the younger brother of Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa will be the top pick in 2019 and believe he has the potential to be better than Joey.

Joey was drafted third overall by the Chargers in the 2016 draft. He missed the first four games of his rookie season but didn't miss a beat upon returning with 10.5 sacks in 12 games.

Things got better for Joey last season when he finished seventh in the NFL with 12.5 sacks and was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time.

That's a lot of pressure for anyone to live up to, but Nick has had no problems following in his brother's footsteps at Ohio State. The 20-year-old was the eighth-ranked prospect in the nation coming out of high school by 247Sports.

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was very complimentary of Nick's character off the field in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman

"His maturity level is off the charts," Meyer said. "Joey became mature. He was always a good kid. I never really had any issues with him. But Nick from day one is a 3.0-plus student. Just handles his business. Not once have I ever had to jump his [butt] about anything."

In two seasons with the Buckeyes, Nick has recorded 23 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. He was named to the All-Big Ten first team and awarded the Smith–Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2017.
