When the New York Jets drafted former USC star Sam Darnold with the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, it gave veteran quarterback Josh McCown a dose of reality.
Not because the rookie is expected to be the face of the franchise at some point—but because of his age.
McCown shared a text from his daughter that produced a, um, fun fact:
Having a 20-year-old teammate won't make the 38-year-old journeyman feel any younger.
McCown, who is entering his 16th season in the league, re-signed with New York on a one-year deal last month. The Jets also signed veteran Teddy Bridgewater and now have Darnold. In other words, there will be plenty of competition at quarterback.
