Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss WrestleMania Rematch Announced for WWE Backlash 2018
April 24, 2018
WWE officially announced Monday that Nia Jax will defend her Raw Women's Championship against Alexa Bliss at the Backlash pay-per-view on May 6.
The bout will be a rematch of the WrestleMania 34 encounter that saw Jax beat Bliss to become a champion for the first time in her WWE career.
Jax and Bliss were once portrayed as best friends on screen, but it all came crashing down in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania.
Bliss was captured on camera talking trash about Jax with Mickie James, which led to The Irresistible Force making it her stated goal to destroy Little Miss Bliss and take the Raw Women's Championship.
She did precisely that on The Grandest Stage of Them All by beating her former best friend in fairly dominant fashion to take home the title.
Bliss has done her best to avoid Jax in the weeks since WrestleMania, but she hasn't stopped running her mouth. The four-time Women's champion went so far as to claim Monday on Raw that Jax had stolen food from a homeless person and eaten it in front of them.
Like the elite-level heel she is, Bliss spun the narrative to make it seem like Jax is the one who bullies people.
Jax will have a chance to shut Bliss up once and for all at Backlash, but with James in her back pocket, Bliss is a threat to recapture the title and become a champion for an impressive fifth time in WWE.
