Russell Westbrook fouled Crowder while he brought the ball up the floor, and his elbow on Adams may have been inadvertent, as the Thunder big man came up from behind in an effort to prevent a potential fight between Crowder and Melo.
Crowder, acquired by the Jazz in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers prior to the deadline, finished with six points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 28 minutes Monday.
Utah now holds a commanding 3-1 series lead and will have a chance to advance to the second round if it wins Wednesday in OKC.
