Juventus Reportedly Join Manchester City and PSG in Chase for Vasco's Paulinho

Matt JonesApr 24, 2018

Juventus have reportedly joined the race to sign Vasco Da Gama sensation Paulinho, who is said to be attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to O Globo (h/t Calciomercato.com), the Italian champions have started to monitor the progress of the 17-year-old after his breakthrough campaign. Paulinho has scored two goals and laid on two assists in six outings this term.

However, there are said to be a number of clubs ready to fight it out to secure the signature of the Brazilian youngster. In addition to Juventus, City and PSG, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be in the hunt.

Additionally, it's reported Atletico Madrid made an offer of €14 million (£12 million) for Paulinho; Vasco are reported to want a fee of €30 million (£26 million). According to AS, that is the figure of his release clause.

The buzz around Paulinho is understandable, as he looks to be one of the best prospects in Brazil. Here's a look at what he can offer:

Last year was important as he made his mark in the Brazilian youth setup.

He was involved in the Selecao squad that won the South American Under-17 Championship along with Real-Madrid-bound Vinicius Junior. Paulinho was also on the scoresheet three times as Brazil finished third at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in October.

As noted by the Scouted Football account, the youngster has been excellent for his club as of late and has performed well on at the Copa Libertadores:

Early in his career he's shown that he's at his best when used high up the pitch, although the young man told FIFA.com recently that he's versatile.

"I'm a striker, but I've also played at full-back and in midfield," said Paulinho. "Hence the versatility. Playing in different positions has added more vision to my game. So I can do a job for the team, wherever the coach asks me to play."

Although it's early in his career, the temptation provided by some of the clubs mentioned will be massive for the forward. Whoever signs him will have a serious talent on their hands.
