
MMA Fighter Alexis Vila Arrested on 2nd-Degree Murder Charge
MMA fighter Alexis Vila was arrested on April 17 and charged with second-degree murder involving a conspiracy and weapon, according to
Vila, 47, is currently being held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. He has a pending hold for immigration. Vila is a Cuba native, who defected to the United States in 1997."
Vila was arrested in 2004 after crashing his Lincoln Navigator into a Fort Lauderdale airport terminal. He served three years in prison for the infraction.
He won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling for Cuba in 1996 and served as an assistant coach for Michigan State's wrestling team from 2000-03. During his MMA career, he fought in Bellator, the World Series of Fighting and Titan FC. He compiled a 15-7 record.
He last fought in 2016, defeating Jorge Calvo at Titan FC 40.
