Justise Winslow Fined $15K for Stepping on Joel Embiid's Mask in Game 3
The NBA has fined Miami Heat forward Justise Winslow $15,000 for stepping on Joel Embiid's mask during the Philadelphia 76ers' 128-108 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference playoffs Thursday.
Per the NBA's official release, Winslow was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The incident occurred midway through the second quarter when Embiid's protective facemask fell off. Winslow stepped on it and appeared to attempt to break it with his hands after picking it up.
Embiid was asked about the incident after the game.
"As far as the mask, Justise stepped on it and tried to break it with his hands," he said, via USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt. "But little do they know is that [I] have about 50 of them. It's going to take much more than that to get me out of this series. I'm going to be a nightmare for them, too."
Winslow countered Embiid's comments by blaming the whole thing on the Sixers star.
“He kept throwing it on the ground, so I don’t know if he didn’t like it or what,” Winslow said, via NBC Sports' Jessica Camerato. “But I was talking to JoJo, we were smack talking, trash talking, going back and forth. No love lost.”
Embiid got the last laugh in the feud with 23 points and seven rebounds to help the 76ers take a 2-1 series lead over the Heat.
