LeBron James Explains Allie LaForce's Question on Death of Gregg Popovich's Wife
LeBron James may not be on social media, but when he heard the internet was critical of Turner Sports sideline reporter Allie LaForce for a postgame question she asked him about the late Erin Popovich on Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar came to her defense.
Erin, the wife of San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, died Wednesday after an extended illness. The news broke as James was on the court playing against the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of the opening round of the 2018 NBA playoffs.
After his team's 100-97 victory at Quicken Loans Arean, James spoke with LaForce. It was then that he was asked about the sad news.
Given his emotional response, some believed the news had blindsided him. That was not the case, James said—and he wanted to set the record straight using his Uninterrupted platform:
The Athletic's Richard Deitsch reported earlier in the night that a source revealed that LaForce had given James a heads-up before the interview. But for anyone who demanded proof, James' video should settle the controversy.
