Barcelona's Lucas Digne Reportedly Offered to Juventus This Summer

Christopher SimpsonApr 18, 2018

Lucas Digne's agents have reportedly offered his services to Juventus amid rumours he's set to leave Barcelona this summer.

According to Goal's Romeo Agresti, the 24-year-old's camp have told the Bianconeri of his availability, with the player and Barcelona both ready to call time on his career at the Camp Nou.

Digne joined Barca in 2016 but has failed to unseat Jordi Alba as first-choice left-back during his time at the club.

The Frenchman has been restricted to just 19 appearances in all competitions this season, and he has not been convincing when he has been on the pitch.

Football writer Andrew Gaffney has not been impressed, while Grup 14's Rafael Hernandez has been critical of his performances:

Prior to his arrival at Barcelona, Digne shone in a loan spell at Roma after struggling to establish himself at Paris Saint-Germain, and he contributed three goals and five assists in 42 appearances for the Giallorossi.

He has spent almost twice as long at Barcelona than he did in the Italian capital, but he has made just three more appearances overall. He hasn't been as effective going forward, either, having produced two goals and two assists in that time.

Digne's stint in Serie A was probably the best of his career, and a return there could revitalise him, so a move could appeal to Juve.

He could serve as an alternative to Alex Sandro, who has been below par this season, or as a replacement should he leave in the summer.

According to Agresti, if Digne does join, it would most likely be on loan with a €25 million option to buy.

Such a deal would be a shrewd move from the Old Lady given his struggles over the last two years, as it will be less problematic if they're unable to coax better showings from him.
