The Maryland native announced his intentions on Twitter Tuesday:

Lee is considered a 4-star recruit by 247Sports and is rated the No. 3 inside linebacker and the No. 61 player overall in his class.

The linebacker just completed his first visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend and apparently liked what he saw.

"It went well," Lee said Tuesday, per Hank South of 247Sports. "I liked it. Just sitting down and talking with Coach (Nick) Saban and him explaining what he looks for and what he does with the program. He talked about bringing in speakers and holding everybody to a standard and making sure everybody is accountable for what they do. He said it’s tough, but it’s good for you and will help you grow."

It's clear the visit made a significant impression on him as he announced his commitment later in the day. The recruit also mentioned offensive coordinator Mike Locksley was a factor in his decision. Lee and his family have known Locksley for years.

Lee is a bit undersized at 6'0", 240 pounds, but makes up for it with great athleticism. Per ESPN, he ran a 40-yard dash in 4.70 seconds, which was the best at his position in the class. His overall SPARQ rating of 98.19 also led all players.

The talented player now becomes the eighth player in the 2019 class already committed to Alabama, all of them considered 4-stars or better.

Considering the Crimson Tide's success with five national championships in the last nine seasons and the squad's history of developing defensive talent, it's no wonder what attracted Lee to the school. Now he just needs to wait his turn before he can get onto the field.
