Deondre Francois Believed to Be Selling Marijuana from Apartment, Led to Raid

Tallahassee police reportedly executed a search warrant at the apartment of Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois after receiving a tip he may be selling marijuana.

Safid Deen of the Orlando Sentinel reported the news Tuesday, noting the signal-caller was the subject of a two-month investigation after a tipster told police he saw a bag full of cannabis in Francois's apartment estimated to be approximately two pounds.

Tallahassee police examined Francois' curbside garbage four times and ultimately searched the apartment with the warrant, but the search "yielded just 17 grams of marijuana among other items," per Deen.

Rather than be arrested, Francois was given the opportunity to take a pre-trial diversion program.

Police believed the evidence present in the garbage suggested criminal activity in the apartment, and Francois said the marijuana found during the apartment search belonged to his girlfriend.

On the field, the quarterback is looking to recover from the torn patellar tendon in his left knee he suffered during last season's opening 24-7 loss to Alabama. Florida State's high expectations quickly came crashing down without its signal-caller, and it finished 7-6 and played in the Independence Bowl.

According to Deen, new head coach Willie Taggart said Francois is still with the team, and any resulting punishment from this incident will be handled internally.

Francois threw for 3,350 yards, 20 touchdowns and just seven interceptions and ran for five more scores as a freshman during the 2016 campaign.
