Colin Kaepernick Arrives at NFL Headquarters for Roger Goodell Deposition

Scott PolacekApr 17, 2018

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick arrived at the NFL's New York City headquarters Tuesday morning for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's deposition.

TMZ Sports reported the news, noting Goodell is being deposed as part of Kaepernick's collusion case against the league and owners after he wasn't signed during the 2017 campaign following his decision to protest racial injustice and police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.

"I'm doing great," Kaepernick said as he arrived with attorneys Mark Geragos and Ben Meiselas, via TMZ. "I love y'all and we gonna keep going!"

TMZ noted Kaepernick and his team previously deposed Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, and Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was also deposed.

The TMZ story pointed out Kaepernick's team had an Adidas bag when they arrived Tuesday, which is notable after the apparel company's president, Mark King, said, "If he signs on a team, we would definitely want to sign him," per Greg Moore of AZCentral Sports.

Kaepernick's deposition case comes as he is attempting to get back into the league after not being given an opportunity during the 2017 season.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported talks between the quarterback and Seattle Seahawks are "in a holding pattern but not done" after the team re-signed backup Austin Davis. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Seahawks postponed a workout for Kaepernick after he would not commit to ending his kneeling during the anthem.

According to Schefter, there isn't a single NFL team that has worked the signal-caller out since he became a free agent following the 2016 campaign.

Kaepernick threw for 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions in 2016 and led the 49ers to the Super Bowl in the 2012 season and the NFC Championship Game in the 2013 season.
