LiAngelo Ball Struggles with 6 Points, LaMelo Sits out Vytautas' Win vs. Dzukija
LiAngelo Ball struggled and LaMelo Ball didn't play Sunday, but Vytautas Prienu picked up a 74-63 win over Dzukija in Lithuanian League play.
With LaMelo sitting out, LiAngelo finished with six points on 3-of-11 shooting (0-of-5 from three-point range), one rebound and one block in 11 minutes.
Vytautas is now 7-24 on the season. While it remains in last place, it trails Dzukija and Nevezis by just two games each in the standings.
Although LiAngelo was out of sync on offense, Nicola Lupo of Sportando pointed out that he did some good things on the defensive end:
That was apparent late in the first half when Ball registered a block that resulted in Vytautas making a three in transition, as seen in the following video courtesy of Big Baller Brand Media:
Despite that play, Ball was arguably the worst player on the floor for Vytautas on Sunday, as evidenced by his team-worst plus-minus rating of minus-10.
Vytautas didn't need much production from LiAngelo, though, as four players scored in double figures for the team, including Eigirdas Zukauskas, who scored a game-high 20.
LaMelo still managed to be a topic of conversation even though he didn't play in the game.
There were questions about whether LaMelo had drastically changed his signature hairstyle, but the BC Vytautas Twitter account confirmed that the youngest Ball brother had merely gotten it trimmed:
Vytautas now has five games remaining in its season, and it is in danger of getting relegated to a lower division.
Unless the team can catch Dzukija or Nevezis in the standings, it will drop from the LKL to the second-level National Basketball League of Lithuania.
