Bruce Arians: Cardinals Should Select Lamar Jackson at No. 15 in 2018 NFL Draft

Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians endorsed the idea of the Cards selecting Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft on Saturday.

In an interview with Bob McManaman of AZCentral Sports, Arians effusively praised Jackson, saying:

"That's one guy I really am intrigued with because he can spin it and he's been in a pro-style offense and he's been hard coached by Bobby [Petrino]. He brings that unique skill set, and it makes me look back at Vince Young. Vince could beat you and he was a heck of a leader. I don't know why it didn't work out for him, but listening to him now, telling his story, he's like, 'I didn't put the time in.'

"I think Lamar puts the time in. He's going to get better, and he just brings that unique ability to break the game open with his legs."

Arians also had good things to say about current Cards signal-callers Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon. However, he made it clear that Arizona needs to draft a quarterback of the future.

Aside from staying at No. 15 and taking Jackson, Arians supported Arizona potentially attempting to trade up in an effort to take USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield or Wyoming's Josh Allen as well.

Jackson enjoyed two monster seasons to close out his time at Louisville and won the Heisman Trophy at the conclusion of the 2016 campaign.

Although there have been questions about Jackson's ability to translate to the NFL level as a quarterback, Arians seemingly has few concerns regarding his skill set.
