Wizards vs. Raptors Playoff Game 1 Delayed by Leak in Roof, Moisture on Court
A leaky roof caused a brief delay prior to the start of Game 1 of the first-round playoff series between the No. 8 Washington Wizards and No. 1 Toronto Raptors on Saturday.
According to Ava Wallace of the Washington Post, the game was delayed by 15 minutes, as staff at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto attempted to wipe up moisture on the court brought on by the roof leak.
Chris Miller of NBC Sports Washington tweeted a photo of the scene in Toronto:
The Raptors were the top team in the Eastern Conference this season and the second-best team overall in the NBA with a 59-23 record.
They have a history of playoff struggles, though, especially in Game 1s, as they have lost 10 straight Game 1s entering Saturday's contest.
Only five No. 8 seeds have ever beaten a No. 1 seed in the first round of the playoffs, and a Wizards team with a pair of backcourt All-Stars in John Wall and Bradley Beal has a chance to become the sixth if it can capitalize on Toronto's Game 1 blues and get off to a winning start in the series.
