Matteo Darmian wants to leave Manchester United for Juventus this summer, according to reports from Italy.

The former Torino man is said to have already agreed to join the Bianconeri, per Tuttosport (h/t MailOnline's Patrick Boyland). Negotiations are ongoing, but Darmian is ready to make the move once the season ends.

A transfer fee hasn't been set, but a move to Juve would represent a best-case scenario for the 28-year-old. He has found life at Old Trafford trying since joining the Red Devils in 2015.

Although he's won the FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League, Darmian has struggled for game time regularly. He has started a mere eight games across all competitions during this campaign.

The fact Darmian continues to be overlooked while United have struggled for solutions in the full-back berths only underlines his low standing. He's versatile enough to play on the left or right, yet manager Jose Mourinho has still preferred to stick with converted wingers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

There would likely be no such issues in Turin, where Juve need help at full-back, with Boyland noting both Kwadwo Asamoah and Stephan Lichtsteiner as possible departures.

Premier League duo Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Asamoah on a free transfer, according to Steve Goodman of The Sun. As for Lichtsteiner, the Switzerland international is 34, and Juve need a younger replacement.

Juventus have been interested in Darmian for a while, with general manager Giuseppe Marotta telling Calciomercato.com in March (h/t Ciaran Kelly of the Manchester Evening News): "He is a player of Manchester United and is not our property, but he is a good player who interests us."

Both United and Juve are interested in Arsenal's Hector Bellerin, per Jack Rathborn of the Daily Mirror, further proof the pair are both on the lookout for a new right-back.

Darmian makes sense as a target for Juve because of his flexibility. Not only can he play both full-back positions, but the Italy international can also operate centrally as part of a three-man defence.

Mourinho occasionally used Darmian in the latter role during last season's Europa League run. Meanwhile, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has used both a back four and a back three during his time in charge of the Bianconeri.

Moving to Juve would give Darmian the chance to revitalise his career, while United would get the opportunity to trim a bloated squad and find a more suitable potential successor for Valencia.
