Suns HC Rumors: David Fizdale to Interview for Vacancy
The Phoenix Suns are bringing in David Fizdale for an interview for their vacant head coaching job.
Per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Fizdale said he is meeting with the Suns next week.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday the Suns also received permission from the Atlanta Hawks to interview Mike Budenholzer.
Wojnarowski added that the Suns' search has thus far been "focused on securing a candidate with a successful head coaching resume in the NBA."
Fizdale previously served as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2016-17 season, where they made the playoffs before falling to the San Antonio Spurs in the first round.
The Grizzlies fired Fizdale last November after a 7-12 start, bringing his regular-season record with Memphis to 50-51.
The Suns finished this season with the NBA's worst record (21-61) and haven't made the playoffs since the 2009-10 season.
