Josh Allen Draft Rumors: Browns, Giants, Bills All 'Impressed' with QB Prospect

Kyle NewportApr 12, 2018

As the 2018 NFL draft approaches, the buzz around former Wyoming Cowboys quarterback Josh Allen continues to increase.

According to The MMQB's Albert Breer, the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills "have all been impressed" by Allen.

Currently, Cleveland holds the Nos. 1 and 4 overall picks, New York follows at No. 2 and Buffalo sits at No. 12.

According to Breer, Cleveland hosted Allen on Thursday for a pre-draft visit as it had yet to make up its mind as to what it will do with the top pick. A source that knows Browns general manager John Dorsey offered a take on the situation.

"I know John likes [Sam] Darnold, and I know he likes Allen’s talent," the source told Breer. "It’ll come down to this: Who do they trust most?"

Despite playing at Wyoming, Allen has been on NFL teams' radars for a while now. He threw for 5,066 yards and 44 touchdowns in three seasons—starting two—with the Cowboys.

The 6'5", 233-pound quarterback has the size and arm strength to put him among the top players at his position in this year's draft class. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller has the former Wyoming star as the No. 2 quarterback in the draft.

Teams have reason to be impressed with Allen both on the field and off it. The 21-year-old reportedly scored a 37 on the Wonderlic.

Barring a catastrophic controversy popping up in the next two weeks, Allen is not expected to have to wait long to hear his name called at AT&T Stadium on April 26. It's just a matter of which team believes he can lead their franchise in the future.
