Report: PSG Have Made Contact About Signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United

Rory MarsdenApr 12, 2018

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made contact with Paul Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, about possibly signing the Frenchman in the summer.

Paris United (via Sport Witness) previously reported Pogba would be open to a move to the Parc des Princes to join up with Neymar, and now the French giants have started to move on their interest in the midfielder:

"Finally the stage of mere consideration has been passed and the discussions are effective. We can now say that contacts exist between Mino Raiola, the representative of Paul Pogba, and the Parisian leaders. The profile of the Mancunian pleases the high spheres of the club who have also confirmed that the operation is feasible vis-a-vis financial fair play. On this point, both in terms of sales and sponsorship contracts, serenity reigns in the corridors of the club."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently revealed Raiola had offered Pogba, 25, to the Sky Blues in the January transfer window, per Jamie Jackson in the Guardian.

Jackson added that Pogba and United manager Jose Mourinho have endured a strained relationship this season, perhaps adding credence to the idea the Red Devils could sell their academy graduate.

However, the France international provided a timely reminder of his quality as he netted twice in United's 3-2 comeback win away at Manchester City on Saturday.

It seems unlikely United would be open to selling Pogba after paying £89 million to buy him back from Juventus less than two years ago.

PSG are one of the few clubs in the world who have the financial clout to submit a tempting offer for the dynamic midfielder.

But it would be a damning indictment of United's transfer policy if they were to sell Pogba this summer.

It would arguably also be a foolish move given Pogba's talent.

He has struggled to maintain sustained good form during his time at United, but as he proved on Saturday, he can be influential in the biggest matches.
