Joel Embiid Shares Picture Wearing Protective Mask on Instagram

Philadelphia has a new superhero. 

Actually, check that: It's just Joel Embiid in a mask. 

But to Philadelphia 76ers fans, those may be the same thing.  

On Tuesday, The Process debuted his new protective gear on Instagram as he ramps up preparations for a return from a fractured orbital bone: 

Embiid remains without a timetable to return, but the Sixers offered an encouraging update regarding his status last Friday when they announced surgeons were "pleased with how the affected area is presenting." 

He's also been cleared by an independent neurologist as he works his way back from a concussion and has started non-contact cardiovascular exertion steps that he must pass in order to fully clear NBA protocol.
