2018 New York Jets Schedule: Full Listing of Dates, Times and TV Info

The New York Jets are moving on up.   

Their offseason rebuild included the additions of cornerback Trumaine Johnson and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater along with running backs Isaiah Crowell and Thomas Rawls and wideout Terrelle Pryor. Plus, the team's rebuild will take another step forward in the  offseason with the NFL draft.

There were losses, of course. Out are Demario Davis, Muhammad Wilkerson and Kony Ealy. The Jets will have a different look in 2018, but the changes seem largely positive.

Those offseason additions will supplement a roster that went 5-11 last season but showed a lot of promise. Wide receiver Robby Anderson had a breakout campaign. Linebacker Darron Lee took a positive step in his second season. Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye, last season's top two picks by the team, form one of the best young safety duos in the NFL, while defensive lineman Leonard Williams is a beast.

Obviously, the Jets' 2018 season will be contingent upon who wins the starting quarterback gig. Will veteran Josh McCown hold onto the position after serving as the team's quarterback last season? Will Bridgewater be given the chance to reinvent himself in New York? Will a rookie signal-caller be handed the reins?

The Jets will go as far as their quarterback takes them. They don't look like a team that will make a playoff push in 2018, but they should take a step forward. Here is a look at the complete schedule for the Jets in the 2018 regular season, per NFL.com.

The 2018 slate is no cakewalk. The Jets will face five playoff teams (Patriots, Bills, Titans, Jaguars and Vikings) from the 2017 season and have seven total games against those opponents.

But that doesn't account for teams that should be improved in 2018. The Packers get Aaron Rodgers back, which instantly makes them a playoff contender. Houston gets back rookie sensation Deshaun Watson—who had the team's offense rolling last year before his tore his ACL—and defensive superstar JJ Watt. The Dolphins will get back quarterback Ryan Tannehill, while the Colts will see Andrew Luck back in action.

And don't count out teams like the Denver Broncos or Detroit Lions, teams with solid rosters. The Broncos added Case Keenum at quarterback this offseason, an upgrade over last year's cast of characters at the position. Detroit has gone 9-7 in consecutive seasons.

There aren't many easy games on this schedule.

Key Matchups

If the Jets want any shot at making a run at a wild-card spot or better they likely need to come away with a winning record from their four overall matchups against the Dolphins and Bills. 

Miami made a ton of changes this offseason, none bigger than cutting Ndamukong Suh, but that roster upheaval and the questions about Tannehill's future at quarterback could make them vulnerable in 2017. The Bills have a strong roster but it's fair to question if AJ McCarron is an immediate upgrade over Tyrod Taylor, who was shipped to the Cleveland Browns this offseason.

If the Jets can't come away with three wins in these contests, it's hard to imagine them pulling off upsets against teams like the Patriots, Vikings, Packers or Jaguars. The matchups against the Dolphins and Bills should serve as a solid barometer for the team's overall forecast in 2018.
