Eli Manning 'Never Got Too Concerned' with Odell Beckham Jr. Trade Rumors

Rob GoldbergApr 9, 2018

While there has been plenty of speculation that the New York Giants could trade star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason, quarterback Eli Manning isn't letting it distract him.

"I never got too concerned with it," Manning said of the trade rumors Monday, per Art Stapleton of The Record.

"We all know the talent Odell has and what he brings to the field," Manning added, per Stapleton. "I look forward to playing with him this year and for years to come."

Beckham, who is in the final year of his rookie contract, was not necessarily on the trade block, but the team was seemingly listening to offers. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Giants were asking for two first-round picks in a potential deal.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY provided a breakdown of the rumors, noting teams were interested—including the Los Angeles Rams—but said it is "highly unlikely" the Giants would deal the receiver.

When Beckham wasn't present during Manning's workouts with various receivers at Duke University last week, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, it raised a few more eyebrows. However, the 25-year-old did show up to the team's voluntary offseason workouts Monday, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Meanwhile, Manning didn't seem to mind Beckham's absence in North Carolina, noting the wideout's rehab schedule didn't allow it.

"We were on the same page, talked about it, just didn't make sense," Manning said, per Stapleton.

There is still a long way until the regular season kicks off Sept. 6, and anything could happen as far as roster moves are concerned. It appears, however, as though Manning and Beckham are planning to enter 2018 as teammates in New York.
