Kobe Bryant surprised Notre Dame Fighting Irish star Arike Ogunbowale during a taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Although he won five titles in the NBA, Bryant noted Ogunbowale has the edge in NCAA championships and that she was responsible for a title-winning shot right before the buzzer—another distinction he cannot claim.

Bryant had congratulated Ogunbowale on Twitter after she hit the decisive shot in Notre Dame's upset of the top-seeded Connecticut Huskies and then again following her game-winner in the national championship two days later:

Kobe Bryant @kobebryant

Big time shot Arike! We are a @UConnWBB family but we love seeing great players making great plays. I know my lil sis @jewellloyd is happy Well done @ndwbb good luck on Sunday #mambamentality 🙌 https://t.co/8DxHkNURN7

Kobe Bryant @kobebryant

WOW! @Arike_O #lifecomplete #MambaMentality

Ogunbowale is one of nine players set to return for Notre Dame in 2018-19, so the Fighting Irish should have a good chance of contending for another title next year.
