Conor McGregor Can't Attend UFC 223 After Attacking Bus at Media Day

Scott PolacekApr 5, 2018

Conor McGregor won't be in attendance at UFC 223 on Saturday.

The UFC announced McGregor, Artem Lobov and the others involved in Thursday's media day fracas would not be allowed to attend the event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Lobov was originally scheduled to fight Alex Caceres.

The announcement noted McGregor and Lobov were joined by more than 12 others while vandalizing a bus carrying fellow UFC fighters. It also pointed out the New York Police Department is investigating the incident.

UFC fighter Michael Chiesa suffered cuts on his face during the incident, and Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting reported his Saturday fight against Anthony Pettis was canceled as a result.

UFC President Dana White called it "the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of this company," per Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com, and added "right now, absolutely not" when asked if he plans on doing business with McGregor in the future.

According to Steven Marrocco of MMAjunkie, the NYPD plans on questioning McGregor following the incident but has not issued a warrant for his arrest.

"But that could change if the NYPD is unable to convince the fighter to come in for an interview," Marrocco wrote.

McGregor hasn't fought in the UFC since Nov. 2016 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez via knockout to win the lightweight belt. Since then, he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a highly publicized boxing match by technical knockout in the 10th round.
