Jordan Crawford, Pelicans Reportedly Agree to Contract

Veteran guard Jordan Crawford is back with the New Orleans Pelicans after the two sides reportedly agreed on a new deal, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. 

The 29-year-old spent last season with the Pelicans and played two games with the squad in October before being waived to clear space for Jameer Nelson. He will now try to provide some much-needed depth in the backcourt with four games remaining in the regular season.

With Ian Clark set to miss 5-10 days with an ankle injury, per Scott Kushner of the Advocate, Crawford could immediately fill his role in the rotation as a valuable scorer off the bench.

Crawford was a first-round pick in 2010 but bounced around to four different teams in his first four seasons. After two years out of the NBA, he returned last season with New Orleans, initially on a 10-day contract.

He exceeded expectations at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, averaging 14.1 points per game in 19 contests, all off the bench. This earned him a two-year deal with the team, although it was only partially guaranteed and he was waived shortly after the start of the 2017-18 season.

However, he has returned and will try to keep the Pelicans' playoff hopes afloat.

At 44-34, New Orleans enters Thursday just one game clear of the Denver Nuggets for the final playoff spot. On the other hand, the team is only one game behind the Utah Jazz for the No. 4 seed.

After losing four of their last five games, the Pelicans could use all the help they can get for the final week of the season.
