Julian Edelman Alerted Police After Boy Made School Shooting Threat on Instagram
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman may have played a role in preventing a school shooting.
Per the New York Times' Ken Belson, Edelman contacted police after being alerted through a direct message on Instagram about a threat made in the comment section of a post he made.
"Dude, there is a kid in your own comment section says he s going to shoot up a school, i think you should alert the authority," the message to Edelman said.

Belson noted Edelman contacted his assistant in Boston, who found the comment that read, "I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news."
Edelman's assistant, Shannen Moen, called the police, who traced the comment to a teenager who lives in Port Huron, Michigan, using a records request for his email and IP address. He is now being held in a juvenile detention center.
Edelman told Belson he is going to send "a care package" to the person who alerted him to the threat.
