Trades We Wish We Had Seen in 2026 NFL Draft
The G-Men own the draft's No. 2 overall pick.
New York is coming off a 3-13 season, and it may be in the market for a successor to veteran quarterback Eli Manning.
Although Manning has two years left on his contract, he is 37 years old, and New York may never have a better opportunity to find his heir apparent.
If the Giants stay at No. 2, they will likely have their pick of the litter among the signal-callers save for one player.
The Cleveland Browns own the Nos. 1 and 4 overall selections. The New York Jets traded up to No. 3 with the likely intention of taking a quarterback, which will almost certainly compel Cleveland to go with a quarterback first overall.
Although the Giants need immediate help on both sides of the ball, quarterback is a long-term need. A young signal-caller could benefit from joining the G-Men since there won't be any pressure to start immediately.
Among New York's other options at No. 2 are Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, NC State pass-rusher Bradley Chubb and Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson. Each would fill a significant area of need.
In his latest mock draft, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller predicted the Giants would stand pat at No. 2 and take Chubb to replace Jason Pierre-Paul, whom they traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With regard to the quarterbacks, Miller mocked Darnold to the Browns at No. 1, Allen to the Jets at No. 3, Mayfield to the Denver Broncos at No. 5 and Rosen to the Buffalo Bills at No. 6 in a trade-up scenario.
