Dennis Smith Jr. Throws Down Epic Clutch Dunk vs. Trail Blazers

Joseph ZuckerApr 3, 2018

Dallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. has been a bright spot for the team in an otherwise forgettable season, and the rookie delivered another highlight in Tuesday night's 115-109 win over the Portland Trail Blazers at American Airlines Center.

With 1:19 left in the game, Smith intercepted a pass from CJ McCollum and finished at the other end with a two-handed dunk. Unable to control the ball prior to starting his jump, Smith instead bounced it up to himself before throwing down the jam.

Not only was the dunk impressive on its own, but it also helped the Mavericks seal the win with a little over a minute remaining.

Smith competed in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in February but didn't make it out of the first round after finishing four points below Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. Tuesday's dunk is evidence the 2017 first-round pick should get a second crack at the event in 2019.
