LiAngelo Ball Drops 44, LaMelo Gets Triple Double in Big Baller Brand Exhibition
It was just an exhibition game, but LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball put on a show during BC Vytautas' 127-110 victory over the London Lions on Monday.
As the team shared on Twitter, LaMelo dropped a triple-double of 39 points, 16 assists and 16 rebounds in the victory, while LiAngelo poured in 44 points:
Ryne Nelson of Slam noted the head-turning performances came a mere six days after LiAngelo torched the Guangdong Southern Tigers' junior team for 72 points in another exhibition contest.
The type of high-volume scoring performances LiAngelo has turned in is sure to catch some attention after his agent, Harrison Gaines, told Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports he is declaring for the 2018 NBA draft.
Charania noted LiAngelo will participate in the Pro Basketball Combine at the IMG Academy in May with NBA team executives present and will also work out for some teams after he is done playing in Lithuania.
"As NBA teams increasingly value 3-point shooting and defending wings, Ball will have an opportunity to prove to teams that he is a potential draft pick," Charania wrote.
Still, LiAngelo was only considered a 3-star prospect and the No. 226 player in his high school class, per 247Sports, and didn't lace up for the UCLA Bruins like he initially was supposed to after a shoplifting incident in China made national news.
LaMelo and LiAngelo have each demonstrated their talent during the Big Baller Brand Challenge exhibition contests, even if they are playing against teams from lower divisions and not exactly NBA or top-level college competition.
They were both the clear-cut offensive leaders for Vytautas again on Monday, consistently hitting open looks and creating for themselves and teammates as opposing defenders collapsed on their attack.
