LiAngelo, LaMelo Ball Combine for 8 Points in Vytautas' Loss to Lietkabelis

Adam WellsMar 31, 2018

Four days after combining for 108 points in a Big Baller Brand Challenge game, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball were held in check with a total of eight points for Prienu Vytautas in a 91-76 loss against Lietkabelis on Saturday.

Things started rough for LiAngelo, who was held scoreless on three first-half shot attempts. He finally got on the board in the third quarter with a three-point attempt but only went 1-of-7 from the field.

LiAngelo didn't make a significant impact in other areas, either. The 19-year-old grabbed three rebounds and had one assist in one of his worst performances in 10 games against Lithuanian Basketball League competition.

His three points marked his lowest total in an LKL contest since Lietkabelis held him scoreless in his Vytautas debut Jan. 13.

While LiAngelo played 21 minutes in Saturday's game, LaMelo continued to see limited action. He's only appeared in seven contests for Vytautas and played just four minutes, all of which came in the final quarter, against Lietkabelis

LaMelo, despite not appearing until the end of the game when things were out of hand, outscored his brother with five points on 2-of-3 shooting. He also had two assists.

Lietkabelis is one of the LKL's best squads, entering its matchup against Vytautas fourth in the league standings with an 18-10 record. Vytautas, by comparison, is in last place with five wins in 28 games.

The teams' disparity in talent and skill was on display, and it's clear LiAngelo and LaMelo are still honing their abilities against professional competition.

The Ball brothers' next appearance will come Monday in England during an exhibition against the London Lions as part of the Big Baller Brand Challenge series.
