LeBron James Breaks Michael Jordan's Record, Scores 10 or More in 867 Straight

Alec NathanMar 30, 2018

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James scored in double figures for the 867th straight game when he drove through the teeth of the New Orleans Pelicans' defense for a two-handed dunk in the first quarter of Friday night's showdown at Quicken Loans Arena.

James now owns the NBA record for consecutive games with at least 10 points, breaking Michael Jordan's long-standing mark.

A look at the longest double-figure streaks in league history can be viewed below, courtesy of NBA.com:

1. LeBron James: Jan. 2007-Present (867 games)

"I can't even tell you how I've been able to do it," James said after tying Jordan's record on Wednesday, per NBA.com. "It's not like I go into every game saying, 'OK, I've got to get 10 points.' It's just kind of organic. It happens, and anytime I'm mentioned with some of the greats, and arguably the greatest basketball player of all time in Mike, it's just another feat for me to be appreciative and humbled by what I've been able to do."

The record is a nice footnote for James' MVP-caliber season, to be sure.

But at this point, LeBron's focus is trained squarely on keeping the Cavaliers in contention for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs with the Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers both pushing hard to claim the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds before the regular season wraps up.
