Pirates vs. Tigers Postponed Due to Inclement Weather on 2018 MLB Opening Day
The Detroit Tigers announced their scheduled Opening Day clash with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Comerica Park on Thursday has been postponed because of inclement weather.
Detroit confirmed the game is rescheduled for Friday with a 1:10 p.m. ET first pitch.
Jordan Zimmermann is set to take the mound for the Tigers, while Ivan Nova earned the Opening Day assignment for the Pirates.

The Weather Channel forecasts a high temperature of 46 degrees under mostly cloudy skies in Detroit on Friday, but there is a 0 percent chance of precipitation.
It's been an offseason of change for the Buccos. They traded two stalwarts, outfielder Andrew McCutchen and starting pitcher Gerrit Cole, for packages headlined by prospects as they attempt to rebuild the roster for future success.
Although the moves have dampened expectations for the 2018 season—FanGraphs projects Pittsburgh to post a 76-86 record—manager Clint Hurdle has remained optimistic.
"I'm fortunate to have been here seven years; I know the organization, I know the players, I know the city, I know the fanbase and I'm humbled to be a part of it," Hurdle told reporters in February. "The place is going to explode when we win it all. The place is going to explode."
Predictions for the Tigers' campaign are equally pessimistic. They are forecast to finish with a 70-92 record, the third-worst mark in baseball, per FanGraphs.
To beat that projection, Detroit is going to need Nicholas Castellanos to build off his strong second half in 2017. Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez would also need to fend off Father Time for another year to create a fearsome middle of the order.
That's the beauty of Opening Day, though. Every team is 0-0 with the possibility of exceeding all outside expectations. The Tigers and Pirates just have to wait an extra day to prove people wrong.
