Mike Singletary Hired as Trinity Christian Academy High School Head Coach
Pro Football Hall of Famer and former San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary was named the new head coach at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas, on Wednesday.
"It's an honor for me to join the TCA family," Singletary said in a release. "I welcome the opportunity to get to know the young men who are a part of the football team, as well as the faculty, staff and parents. I have a soft spot in my heart for young men, and it's my desire to help them develop into all that God created them to be through football and beyond."
Singletary was named the 49ers' interim head coach midway through the 2008 season, and he assumed the full-time job at the conclusion of that campaign.
He spent the next two years at the helm before being fired with one game left in the 2010 season. Singletary went 18-22 in the Bay Area and was succeeded as head coach by Jim Harbaugh.
The 59-year-old latched on with the Minnesota Vikings as an assistant head coach and linebackers coach under Leslie Frazier from 2011 to 2013.
Most recently, Singletary served in an advisory role for the Los Angeles Rams during Jeff Fisher's final season on the job.
