Why the Bruins can pay on the NHL lines
The Bruins already have 104 points and trail the Tampa Bay Lightning by two for the Atlantic Division lead with two games more to play. Boston has two meetings left with Tampa Bay as well, so making up the difference and overtaking the Lightning in the last two weeks is certainly doable.
The Bruins have gone an impressive 7-3 in their last 10 games against Western Conference opponents, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, following a 2-1 overtime win versus the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
Why the Jets can pay on the NHL lines
The Jets earned a much-needed 5-4 shootout victory against the Central Division-leading Nashville Predators on Sunday, winning their fifth in a row overall after losing three of the previous four meetings in the series this season. They now have a more realistic shot at the division title because the Predators have also lost three straight while passing the Vegas Golden Knights for the No. 2 seed in the West too.
Winnipeg owns the most home wins in the league (29) and plays four of its last six on the road, so the team would love nothing more than to close out this homestand with a 6-0 mark.
Smart betting pick
Boston has won the past four meetings, allowing just one goal in each of the last three. The only other meeting this season was a 2-1 decision won in a shootout back on December 21 with 20-year-old defenseman Charlie McAvoy scoring the game-winner on his birthday.
While McAvoy is out with a knee injury for the Bruins, center Patrice Bergeron returned Sunday from a broken foot after missing 13 games and tallied two assists. That said, this will be another lower-scoring game, falling in line with the last 12 matchups between the teams that have seen the under go 8-2-2. Take the under again.
