Manchester City Eye Real Madrid Star Isco for £75M in Latest Rumours

Christopher SimpsonMar 26, 2018

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly wants to sign Isco from Real Madrid this summer, with the Spain international potentially set to cost £75 million.

According to The Sun's Daniel Cutts, Isco is concerned his playing time could be hampered at the Santiago Bernabeu next season because of a planned revamp of the Real squad, and he's open to leaving the club for City.

The Sky Blues, who are long-term admirers of his, have been alerted by his situation and would offer him a rise on his £140,000 weekly wages should he move to the Etihad Stadium.

A source at City told Cutts:

"The club have been after Isco for a while but he has always turned down moves at the final hurdle.

"He wants to play under Pep by all accounts. Everyone knows Real want to add new attacking talent and he could be one that goes.

"Pep already has a wealth of creative midfield talents but is still on the look out for a player who can operate out wide.

"The club are looking to tweak the squad with four roles on the radar including two midfielders, another striker and a back-up full-back."

The playmaker is at his best when deployed as a No. 10, though he has spent time on both flanks during his five years in Madrid.

A skilful and creative operator, Isco can carve open defences with a neat dribble or an incisive pass. He recently stood out for Spain against Germany, per Squawka's Muhammad Butt:

City already have Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Bernardo Silva among their creative options, but adding yet more talent in the form of Isco could enhance their dominance over the Premier League.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of the 25-year-old, though, per OptaJose:

According to Managing Madrid's Lucas Navarrete, the Frenchman would like to keep Isco at the club:

As such, the midfielder's place in the squad seems assured.

Isco will have little reason to leave if he is set to retain his status as an important player at Real Madrid, though if he did join City, he would add even more quality and depth to a squad already packed with both.
