Cross The Line: TNA IMPACT! Recap
Bleacher Report is all about making history. Tonight, we have our first double shot of TNA Wrestling. We start with the recap of tonight's IMPACT! Broadcast.
As the fireworks end in the IMPACT! Zone, the real sparks begin to fly as Booker T makes his way to ring.
Opening Bout: Christian Cage & Rhyno defeat Booker T & Robert Roode
Match begins with Rhyno gaining the early advantage over Roode. Cage comes in off the tag and continues that assault, but after some interference from Booker, he gets blindsided by Mr. Wall Street. After a brief doubleteam, Roode and Booker continue their two on one mugging of the Instant Classic.
After a Reverse DDT, Cage is able to tag in Rhyno, who comes in and practically runs the rest of the show. After Roode tries to interfere, Cage sends him outside, and finishes it off with a flying dive over the top rope. Rhyno counters the scissors kick into a devastating GORE, but before he could seal the victory, Team 3D hits the ring and the mugging is officially on.
After Team 3D brings in a table, AJ Styles comes down and sends the tag team running for the hills. Afterwards, Styles makes it clear that he is out for blood and he wasn't stopping until he got all of his revenge. With that said, TNA Management's Jim Cornette comes out and shakes up the main event of the evening. He adds in Kevin Nash as the Special Enforcer for this match as well.
Guess practice does make perfect. In Nash's case, he needs no practice.
Second Bout: ODB defeats Velvet Sky in a Knockouts Street Fight
As the match begins, ODB throws her spit cup into the face of Sky and follows it up with a series of punches that sends her outside the ring. Angelina Love tries to intervene, but gets thrown around for her troubles. The brawl then spills into the crowd, and ODB has the advantage all the way through the IMPACT! Zone.
As the two knockouts get back into the ring, Angelina provides just enough distraction for her partner to gain an opening. Sky puts her opponent in a Bow and Arrow, but ODB fights out of it and uses her power to drop Sky constantly. Angelina gets on the apron and grabs ODB to hold her. Sky runs towards them, ODB ducks, and Sky puts on the brakes to prevent the collision.
ODB knocks Sky into Love, then finishes her with the Pretty Face Slam for the victory. Following the match, the Beautiful People begin to attack ODB, but Roxxi and Gail Kim come out to even the odds. Just then, a mysterious woman comes out of nowhere and drops both Roxxi and Gail, who gets a paper bag placed over her head by The Beautiful People.
As IMPACT! returns from commercial, Mike Tenay and Don West give the rundown of this Sunday's Slammiversary Card, and Tenay shows the final installment of his interview with the icon Sting.
In the interview, Sting admits that since the retirement of Ric Flair, the thought of hanging up the boots for good has crossed his mind.
Third Bout: Kaz wins the X Division KOTM Match
As the match begins, all five combatants are in a slugfest. As the slugfest spills outside, Jimmy Rave drops Kaz with a slam on the apron, Chris Sabin flies through the ropes to take out Rave, and Johnny Devine does a moonsault off the top of the Penalty Box on both Kaz and Sabin as the show goes to break.
Back from commerical, Kaz and Rave are dueling it out in the ring with ladders. As Rave goes up to hang the 'X,' Sabin comes off the ropes with a springboard dropkick to send Rave to the ground for the pinfall.
As Sabin goes up to hang the 'X,' Kaz brings him down and faceplants him into a ladder. As Curry Man grabs Kaz and monkey flips him into another ladder, Devine comes up and suplexes Curry into another ladder.
As Devine staggers to his feet, Sabin puts him into the Tree of Woe, places a ladder to his head, and hits a Delayed Missile Dropkick on his cranium. As the show returns to live action, Sabin and Kaz are fighting on top of The Box. Sabin changes targets and hits a cross body on an awaiting Curry Man.
Kaz uses the ladder to take down both Devine and Rave, but gets pinned by Devine shortly thereafter. As Devine starts to scale the ladder, Curry Man hits the Spice Rack for the pin. As he starts to make his ascent to the top, Kaz bolts out of the Penalty Box, knocks Curry Man off the ladder, and hangs the 'X' for the win.
Kaz will face the TNA World Champion next week on IMPACT! as a result of the win.
As the carnage is getting cleared up, TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong makes her way to the ring to issue another open challenge. As a result, three potential opponents accept the challenge, including former WCW wrestler Daphne.
Fourth Bout: Awesome Kong defeats Daphne
As the bell ring, Kong is showing her massive dominance. As Daphne tries to fight back, she's knocked around by a series of punches from Kong. On the outside, Kong grabs Daphne and swings her into the guardrail.
Back inside, she delivers a devastating Awesome Bomb for the easy win. The challenge continues as Kong tries to find new competition.
After the match, Abyss sends another video from the asylum with one simple message: Three Days. Sounds like the Monster will be making an appearance at Slammiversary this Sunday.
Speaking of Slammiversary, it is confirmed that Koko B. Ware, George "The Animal" Steele, Kamala, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts will all be a part of the wedding of SoCal Val and "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal.
Fifth Bout: Matt Morgan & LAX defeat Kip James, James Storm & Lance Hoyt
Storm and Homicide start off this six man tag. While executing the 3 Amigos, he tags in Hernandez who nails a tough backbreaker on the Cowboy. As Hernandez holds Storm up in a bearhug, Homicide blind tags, does a 'DX' Chop towards Kip James (formerly Billy Gunn of DX), and does a flying clothesline on Storm.
Following an interference from Jacqueline, The Tennessee Cowboy is on the offensive and plays musical tags with James and Hoyt. Homicide is practically isolated from his partners until a double clothesline allows him to tag in Matt Morgan. Morgan takes out all three as he enters, but it isn't until LAX does a double air attack over the top rope that things are officially one on one.
After paying homage to the Undertaker with a little Old School, Morgan hits the F5 on James for the win.
Back from break, Kurt Angle and his estranged wife Karen are having a point/counterpoint confrontation. Kurt spends the majority of the time throwing out accusations that Karen and AJ Styles are more than just friends. Back in the IMPACT! Zone, AJ snaps and says he's done. He also guarantees that Kurt Angle will not get back up when he's knocked down at Slammiversary.
Main Event: AJ Styles defeats Tomko (Special Enforcer: Kevin Nash)
AJ flips over the top rope onto Tomko to start the featured contest followed by a series of shots. Styles uses kicks, stomps, and chokes to keep his former partner grounded. As Tomko tries to gain the momentum, AJ comes back more vicious than before until he's sent over the top rope to the floor below.
Back from commercial, Styles recovers enough to nail a dropkick followed by a flying forearm shot and The Pele. As he goes for the Styles Clash, members of The New Breed make their appearance, only to get dropped by Nash. Back in the ring, Styles wiggles out of the TKO, drops Tomko, and nails the Frog Splash to pick up a hard fought victory.
Following the bout, all hell breaks loose as Team 3D, LAX, Styles, Tomko, and all five participants in this Sunday's KOTM Match battle it out both in and out of the ring. TNA World Champion Samoa Joe trades blows with Booker T, but an inadvertant chair shot from Nash leaves Joe writhing in pain and questioning the motives of his partner as IMPACT! goes off the air.
This Sunday is Slammiversary! We'll have the updated card later on tonight!
