Michigan's John O'Korn: I'm the Most NFL-Ready QB in NFL Draft

Rob GoldbergMar 24, 2018

Although Michigan quarterback John O'Korn isn't at the top of anyone's draft board, he doesn't lack confidence.

"Honestly, I think I'm the most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft just as far as terminology and knowing what to do on a day-to-day basis, game-planning," he said Friday, per Angelique S. Chengelis of the Detroit News.

O'Korn appeared in 17 games over the past two seasons for the Wolverines, throwing four touchdown passes with six interceptions.

He was in and out of the lineup while dealing with injuries and depth-chart battles with Wilton Speight and Brandon Peters.

Despite his struggles on the field, O'Korn sees his experience with former NFL coaches as a major plus.

"I was part of the game-plan meetings with coach [Jim] Harbaugh, coach [Pep] Hamilton, the whole staff, coach [Tim] Drevno, all last fall," he explained. "So just on a day-to-day basis what it takes to be an NFL quarterback, I think I would choose myself over any other guy in this draft in that regard."

Jim Harbaugh was coach of the San Francisco 49ers for four seasons, while Pep Hamilton spent three years as an offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts and many more as a quarterbacks coach in the NFL.

While the 6'4" passer did have a successful freshman season at Houston in 2013 with 3,117 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, his performance in recent years will hurt his chances of being drafted.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller doesn't have O'Korn listed in his latest seven-round mock draft, which features 13 quarterbacks being selected.
