Josh Allen Shows off Wild Arm Strength at Wyoming Pro Day Ahead of NFL Draft

University of Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen was a limited participant during the Cowboys' Pro Day workout Friday at the team's indoor practice facility in Laramie, Wyoming. 

Allen, one of the top prospects in a loaded QB class for next month's 2018 NFL draft, didn't take part in any of the athletic testing. He opted to stand on his results from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. But he did showcase his most prized asset: his rocket of a right arm.

The 21-year-old California native also went through basic measurements. He checked in at 6'5'' and 232 pounds, per Robert Gagliardi of WYO Sports. That's the same height and five pounds lighter than the combine in Indianapolis three weeks ago.

Allen is one of the most polarizing players available in the draft.

While his arm strength is off the charts, the other facets of his game need polish. He completed just 56.2 percent of his throws across 27 appearances for the Cowboys and had 21 interceptions in 25 games over the last two years as the team's starter.

A high-level NFL executive told Bleacher Report's Matt Miller what he'd be watching during the boom-or-bust prospect's Pro Day showcase.

"Mostly want to see how he spins the ball, if his mechanics are still improved like what we saw in Mobile [at the Senior Bowl] and Indy, and then see how he handles the stress of the day," he said.

Allen was a little bit off on a few timing routes during the red-zone portion of the script. There were no egregious mistakes that would cause serious concern for talent evaluators, though.

All told, it's unlikely Friday's throws without a defense on the field are going to make a major impact in teams' final evaluation. It was a mostly safe script early on, allowing him to show off serviceable touch, and then he put the cannon on display late.

With the pro days now complete for Allen, Josh Rosen (UCLA) and Sam Darnold (USC), it doesn't appear a consensus No. 1 QB is going to emerge before the draft kicks off April 26.
