15 Years Ago: Melo's Syracuse Memories
"I could not sleep. I just remember being up in the room, listening to this big boom box and just blasting my music, and talking to everyone back home," Carmelo Anthony said in an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report, recalling the night before the 2003 NCAA National Championship game.
"I was just at an all-time high. I've never been that excited before. But at ease, too. Even though I didn't sleep I was like let's get this game going."
It's been 15 years since that night and the memories are still vivid in detail. Anthony, along with fellow freshman Gerry McNamara, helped lead Syracuse to a national championship as freshmen, setting a precedent for future championship programs.
